Info Post
Following on from my last post, I went looking for songs that shout out desert noir to me. Not as easy to find as you might think but I have come fairly close with Lights Camera Sundown. I would describe them as playing bluesy-folk. If you’re looking for a reference point, the tunes actually remind me of Otis Taylor and in particular two of his more well known tracks (here and here if you’re curious). They might not sound like him but I get the same feeling from listening to the tracks: songs of wide open spaces. It’s no surprise that the band's bio describes them writing the songs while in the Outback "on cotton farms, deserted truck lay bys and isolated camping grounds". Its desert noir, just a different country.

When you listen to a song like "The Realist Thing", I think you can feel the heat of the baking sun shining down.

The track "Animals" stands out from the other music they have out. It's like a half-speed dance track with the thumping bass drum and electronic chorus and it’s really good (hopefully this will be one of the few times I mention dance on this blog, no offence to the dance and all that).

You can download The Realist Thing for free on their Soundcloud page. And consult the Breaking Tunes page for more tracks and gig dates. “Men of Monkeys" is worth clicking that link alone.
